I worked at Aveda part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Schedule in advance
    - Flexible schedule
    - Products are organic
    - Decent hourly pay
    - 40% discount and free cuts after 3 months of employment
    - You can close throughout your shift (your mileage may vary if the salon is busy or not)

    Cons

    - There is A LOT to learn and must wear a lot of hats. It's not only answering calls and booking appointments. You also must learn about all the products and sell them, perform wellness rituals to every guest (aka hand massages and makeup applying), serve tea, handle deliveries, and must keep track of sales every hour.
    - Outdated SalonBiz
    - Short hours. If you get sick, you have to find someone else to cover your shift.
    - Training is not the best. It's unrealistic to master every aspect of the job in 2 weeks on a part time basis. You're encouraged to write notes during your training period. If you try to ask questions to anyone, you're told to look at your notes.
    - Management and co-workers are very moody/two-faced. They'll only be nice to you in front of customers.
    - No room for creativity. Everything you do has a process that must be done a certain way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Please upgrade SalonBiz. It's frustrating to deal with a slow system when you're booking appointments or ringing up guests.
    - Instead of having everyone write their own notes, make a company training guide and give it to each employee. It'll avoid headaches on both sides.
    - Be honest about the hours and the extra aspects of the job during interviews. Maybe then the turnover wouldn't be so high.
    - It's silly for all staff to wear all black for staff meetings (unless they're working that day).

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
