I worked at Avid Technology full-time (More than 5 years)
Work with some highly creative and intelligent people in music software. Laid back environment. Learn a lot about recording, engineering, and post production.
Dysfunctional culture with little accountability. Everything had to go through a bureaucratic process that killed anyone's sense of being able to contribute or innovate within the company. Supposedly "agile" but everyone struggled to meet long term product deadlines handed down from the top, despite knowing it wouldn't happen. Upper management was completely disconnected from the customer base as well as the employees. Everyone feared another round of layoffs was around the corner. CEO ruled by intimidation and said openly sexist things at company meetings. People preferred to work alone rather than collaboratively, and there was no set standard of accountability.
Advice to Management
Get some accountability in place, for yourself and for your employees. Radically improve how you receive and respond to feedback from your employees, and your customers. Show up more than once a year.
