    I worked at Avis Budget Group full-time (more than an year)


    Superior co-workers who seemingly cared about their jobs and wanted to succeed.
    The Benefit package at Avis/Budget Group is excellent in comparison to what many company's have scaled back to due to the poor economy and rising costs of healthcare. It's a traditional plan with a cheap copay and low deductible.
    The commissions are what make the job most desirable with our top associate averaging more than $3000 monthly in addition to their base hourly pay. The average associate earns at least $1500 to $2000 monthly. Not bad for a sales job which doesn't require more than a high school diploma to get started. Most working there couldn't make that kinda money anywhere else.


    You have to follow a script if you plan to keep your job. Avis hires a sales performance manager per location who's job is to stand over you, and monitor your behaviors in reference to how well/not so well you are following the script. Everyone is given weekly observations where mgmt stands next to you as you present the "script" to your customer. They then bring you in the office and let you know what you need to improve on. Failure to not follow the script verbatim will cost you your job. It is a very high stress sales environment which lacks customer service focus. Every day customers are complaining that charges have been added to their bill in which they didn't authorize. The company doesn't allow us to mention price of upsells to the customer unless they ask. Instead they use a scripted shady approach called can/today savings in order to trick the customer into thinking they have a good deal. The MGMT team is strict on us using this script but have been observed NOT USING IT THEMSELVES. What a joke!!! Turnover is unbelievable!!!! It's the closest experience to HELL you will ever undertake.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    When you lose sight of customer service and treat good people unfairly you are destined to fail. The company has some good employees who are stressed out, tired of the threats to their jobs, and want to succeed. Start caring about your employees and stop ripping off your customers.
