    I worked at BAYADA Home Health Care part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    1:1 with patients, love home care nursing, many good nurses

    Cons

    Unfortunately these great nurses are way underpaid and the benefits are outrageously expensive. Please stop using the excuse it's low reimbursements. Bayada can afford to pay its field employees more that is ridiculous to imply they can't. Client service managers at least at Mt. Laurel office could care less if you are a great nurse if you work a million hours they will praise you 24/7. If you are a part time or per diem nurse or if you actually have a family of your own that you need to take care of they will tell you how unreliable you are and replace you with someone who is able to work all hours even if they are less experienced and have no rapport with client or family. They send new nurses in with very little training or orientation just to fill shifts. Then you have clinical managers who don't update plan of cares, are oblivious to the needs of their clients due to the fact they make their nurses do everything for them and are not out enough visiting the clients that ultimately they are responsible for. With this combination it leads to dangerous nursing practices and puts patient care in jeopardy.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to experienced, highly skilled nurses that patients always want to come back and start valuing them. No matter what their availability is you should respect it and give them the time they deserve when they can take it. It's fair to the nurse and especially to the client and their family. Train your client service managers with some type of medical knowledge so they can understand what skill level nurses are needed for what cases especially if you are going to give them the ability to determine the pay rate and skill level needed for cases. They have way too much control over nurses ability to be staffed and kept on cases. If they don't like you for any reason or if you have a family or personal life that limits you to the amount you can work but are a highly skilled nurse it's ashame because they will run you out. The directors should see this when they lose good nurses that have been there for a long time start to leave.
