I worked at BFG full-time (more than 3 years)Pros
At the time, I was working with a global brand and received invaluable experience in doing so. Since this time, major clients have been eliminated and the main clients are mid-level alcoholic beverage clients.
In the last year or so that I was there, the company tried to step up the culture to make it more "fun" and rewarding, as far as bringing in food trucks, etc.
They do have a good 401K matching program, if that has not been eliminated in recent cuts. They do pay all but 10% of employee insurance, which is a good deal.
It is easy to move up here. Promotions are very easy to come by.Cons
Know that if you relocate to Savannah or SC to work for this company, they are the only game in town, as far as agencies go. If your job is eliminated (as many were recently in a mass layoff due to the loss of some major clients), you will not find another job like this in the area. Just be aware. For a long time, there was a lack of senior management in certain departments, which left a large hole in the organization and compromised employees by leaving them with no one to go to with issues internally. There are several departments, including interactive, that have a lack of knowledge of the industry in order to lead properly. This has led to a breakdown in that department and loss of clients.
The agency relied on a few large clients to float the entire agency for a long time and that did not work out.
When there are layoffs, the severance package is very poor - one week of pay for every year you worked there.
Huge pay scale variance. They will pay you as little as you are willing to take. Always negotiate.
Lots of weekends and late nights for many creative departments due to lack of proper management.Advice to ManagementAdvice
The agency needs fresh upper management in order to grow again, if that's what they want to do. There is a stark lack of understanding and leadership in certain departments that has seriously hurt growth over the years.Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo opinion of CEO
