I worked at BNY Mellon full-time (more than 8 years)

IF you're a top executive, you'll be compensated very well. The CEO's from the Bank of New York and Mellon Bank were each paid a $3 million dollar bonus for staying for 3 years after the two banks merged.

The company is very top heavy and unfair. Most hostile work environment I'd ever seen. After the CEO's got their bonuses, they laid off multiple entire departments and 30% of my own staff, all while demanding more from everyone. Upper management is absolutely atrocious and hypocritical. For example, my manager told me when doing my employees' reviews to focus on their strengths and good points but then gave me a very bad review and put me on a written warning, at which point I asked, "Why don't you just fire me?" A human resources officer was present for the review and responded with, "Why should we do it?" In my anger and disgust I said I quit, which the HR officer replied, "Can we get that in writing?"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate the good things your employees do for you and try having some compassion. Reward them for their efforts and instead of lining the pockets of upper management, hire sufficient staff so the work environment isn't a hostile one.
