I worked at Badenoch & Clark full-time (More than 5 years)
I rate Badenoch and Clark as being the best recruitment agency I have worked for and was surprised reading some of the reviews on this site. I worked my way up from Consultant through to Manager and found the people to be one of the big reasons I stayed for so long. In terms of support and career development I had a very supportive Executive Director and a separate Business Mentor that helped develop my career and add value to my business unit. The training is fantastic for new starters with 6 months development with a mixture of on desk/ classroom based training. This is topped up by the academy and with additional courses from Adecco. This also gives new starters a great opportunity to make friends across the business away from their direct team. The desks are also great, Badenoch and Clark work with some fantastic clients which gives individuals the opportunity to develop a sector specialism and make it their own. The range of clients are huge and bigger then I have seen in any competitor I worked with. They believe in being trusted advisors and let consultants drive networking events and marketing drives that help move relationships forward. Compensation and benefits are consistent to bandings and are high comparative to other recruitment agencies, additionally you are rewarded If you deliver well. I only left Badenoch and Clark for a career change and would use Badenoch and Clark as a client as I believe the service offering and delivery to be better then the competition. I have also met some colleagues that will be friends for life!
There are always inconsistencies as there are from any organisation and some may be the reason for some of the mixed reviews. A little fearful of upsetting the Apple cart so not always the most proactive in terms of making changes/ addressing bad behaviour Some inconsistency around roles and remits from Management level upwards Being part of the Adecco Group has its pluses and its minuses- It can be great when you get an opportunity to work with a client as a result of a group tender but can be a pain in terms of paperwork and some of the back office support.
Advice to Management
- Don't forget that good fun and the people have for years made Badenoch and Clark a good place to work - Take ownership for driving the business forward and be less in silo and more collaborative in doing so
