I have been working at Bank of America

    Pros

I like working for this company because of the people. Co-workers are like family and some customers are great. The benefits and pay are what mainly keep me going as most bankers are well compensated for their performance. Hours are convenient and vacation time is great. I love that there is paid maternity leave for both expecting moms or dads.

    Cons

What is expected of us is not always clear making it hard to satisfy the leadership team and the bank. The expectations change constantly making it frustrating to work. The only time a sale counts is if it books making it seem as if we aren't doing our jobs. Leadership is never satisfied with anything and makes it seem as if we are in control of our customers application outcomes. The sales goals are not fair across the board as some busier centers goals seem lower than they should and
vice versa. The expected outcome should be based on the traffic and clientele in the area. Not all banks are located in areas where people have "money". Seems like the bank is trying to filter out many types of customers and in the process are losing focus on what really makes up a bank. They want "top talent" but are making it harder every quarter to meet our goals. Changing the incentive manual whenever they please does not give us a clear picture of what's expected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be consistent. What's expected of us should not change from one week to the next. The bank will not keep bankers and managers happy if this continues and eventually the company will end up losing some of their best to our competitors. Yes we want a challenge to get to our goals but don't make it almost impossible! Be fair and allow us to do what we need to do! Sell without so many boundaries!
