Former Employee - Public Relations in Seattle, WA

I worked at Barokas Public Relations full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

I spent 7 years as an employee at BPR and continue to work with the team on a freelance basis. They offer a fun and laid back work environment, flexibility and great benefits. The senior leadership are some of the most talented and knowledgeable PR people in the industry, which offers a lot of opportunity to entry level people looking to dive right in and learn the ropes of PR. They offer lots of room for growth and even early on, employees can get experience on real client work.

    Cons

As with any PR job, there is an expectation to work some off-hours. This can be offset by a flexible work week, but anyone looking to work in PR should be prepared to sometimes work beyond a typical 9-5. At BPR there is an expectation that employees dive right in and self-motivate, which can be a turnoff for some, but provides lots of opportunity for people who thrive as self-starters.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I've seen the firm's leadership continually invest in improving mentoring and guidance for employees. By keeping this as a priority, entry and mid-level employees will continue to grow and sharpen their skills.
