I have been working at Barts Health NHS Trust full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Pension is currently good but that's starting to be eaten away.
Quite a lot of the people who work here are nice. Unfortunately they're not in a position to change what needs to be changed.

    Cons

They want want you to give and give but aren't willing to give back. Top level management enjoy large salaries and increases every year but everyone else has to suffer.
Constant talk of working transparently so everyone through the trust knows what's happening. It's just hot air. Nobody knows a thing.
You'll often find two people doing the same piece of work for different people. There is money wasted left right and centre. The financial turn around team are proving completely ineffective and, if rumours are true, a massive drain of scarce financial resources.
IT systems are a joke. Repeated amounts of downtime. Old systems still in use. Bizarre account restrictions that are easy to bypass. Terrible security.
Sadly, there's a growing culture of people trying to push others down to build a mini empire of their own within the trust.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Throw out the turn around team and start listening to the people who are actually doing the work. There's good ideas out there but you're not hearing them because you're not listening.
Stop looking for quick fixes and start investing in long term projects that will be much more valuable in future.
Take a look at the number of middle managers leaving and try to understand why. There are people who transfer across to Barts as part of a merger and leave in less than a year because of the poor management.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
