I have been working at Base2 Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)
Other reviews have captured the great culture, people, and work-life balance. So I thought I'd mention some of the things I've learned since joining Base2: 1) If you hear the word "Panic" in a Base2 project meeting, chances are people are talking about pre-3.10 Linux kernels and not the state of the project. This is especially true if that project uses Docker. 2) When you discover an ancient REST API returns only human-readable strings instead of a JSON object, it is probably time to reevaluate the scope of the project. 3) Docker and VMware and AWS and Azure are not four mutually exclusive solutions. Use the best tools for the client and their project. 4) AngularJS vs. Backbone.js is the great religious debate of our time. Base2 has projects that use both. 5) Aerospace systems engineers make very good quality auditors. 6) The command line tool "curl" is paradoxically one of the best tools to do UI testing. 7) If you accidentally put your test environment's DHCP server on the local LAN, you will receive some gentle ribbing, but that is about it. Despite learning all of these things on the job at Base2, I have never been made to feel that any question is too dumb or not worth asking. Even the most ardent Backbone.js development master will sit down and walk through the hows and whys with the most neophyte tester.
Project managers sometimes write meeting notes in "Markdown", which look great in a wiki, but require a cheatsheet for everyone else.
Advice to Management
Work hard to keep the culture smart and tech savvy as the company grows and evolves. Require everyone to read "Elements of Style," which is probably what I should have done before writing this review.
