I have been working at Basin Electric Power full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits. The best retirement programs in industry. Solid future, people will always need electricity to power their lives. Great, rural, peaceful locations. Travel between facilities via private jet.

    Cons

Headquarters is in Bismarck, ND. The workforce is set, once a person is on board, they rarely leave and termination is extremely difficult. The company tends to be headquarters focused rather than generation focused. They sometimes forget where their revenue is made.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on career pathing employees. Train the workforce and develop supervisors. There is an economic disadvantage to moving from union to staff. This leads to a much lower quality of supervision than should be presented.
