I worked at Bechtel Marine Propulsion

Job security is good, and some of my former coworkers are some of my best friends. There is plenty of room to climb within the company if you are an aspiring manager. If all you care about is getting paid and it doesn't matter what you do (or don't do), then this place might be a good fit.

While there are many things I could list, the biggest negative for me was the long term career implications. As an engineer I didn't do any "engineering" in the classical sense. Very little of my work required any technical background or skills and my responsibilities consisted of essentially pushing paper for work procedures. Nothing of my experience was relevant anywhere else, and I realized the longer I stayed there, the more backed into a corner I would be regarding marketability. The work model and environment is toxic to any innovation or a sense of accomplishment or satisfaction in your work. My time was mostly spent writing procedures of what was dictated to me by compliance and oversight, and I had little ownership over my own work.

Benefits and pay were below average across the board considering all the drawbacks of working there...little vacation time, below average pay, no bonuses,
