I have been working at Bechtel Marine Propulsion full-time for more than 3 years

Most managers don't have their employees working over 40 hours per week and you don't take work home.

A joke I've heard several times is that BMPC hires only the best and the brightest but then only pays them industry average. Salary is actually below industry average. If you haven't been interviewed for management positions or acted as a temporary manager in your first 5 years with the company you will never get into management. At my facility tolerated behaviors would get you fired at any other company I have ever worked at. The location requires a 2 and 1/2 hour daily commute which on top of the 9 and 1/2 hour day leaves you no time for any outside interests. Training related to your position is almost impossible to find unless you are willing to foot the bill yourself and use your vacation for it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training budgets need to be increased. Compensation for new employees doesn't grow and they no longer have a pension so why should they stay making 20 to 40% below market value for their skills.
