I worked at Benchmark Brands full-time (more than a year)

The non-management people are great - highly intelligent and a please to work with. They are the only positive in such a horrible work environment.

CEO lacks focus and people skills. While all companies should evolve and change with the times, benchmark brands changes their strategy multiple times within a week. The CEO micro manages people to the point of not letting them do their jobs. His lack of trust is evident throughout all aspects of the company and has created an environment where employees are scared to think for themselves. The employee turnover is worse than I've ever seen at any other company. There have been several mass layoffs (Reductions In Forces as the CEO likes to call them) and the HR (TAM) team is like a revolving door. The CEO will have company meetings and say "this is it, your job is safe" then the next week he is firing even more people. Employees go to work each day with the fear of hearing "your position has been eliminated". The CEO is also known to go on rants, cursing and degrading employees all while expecting them to show up daily with a positive attitude, work more than 8 hrs with no regard for work life balance and gives them zero respect. It's an unhealthy environment at all levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a clue. People have said for years how bad it is to work at BMB yet no one listens. The company is not getting better, it's actually getting worse. During the hiring process you tell everyone all the "great" things that BMB is doing, yet in reality it's all a farce just to get a body in a chair. Have compassion for your employees instead of cursing at them when you don't get your way. New VPs and directors coming in need to have respect for the people who work there. Coming in, ready to fire anyone who doesn't fall in line isn't the way to go.
