I have been working at Bimbo Bakeries full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Company leadership in Utah areas is pretty good. They have developed market dominance and you are compensated considerably well for a non-degree position as a route salesman. Also, most of the routes are high-volume, low miles. If you stick it out a tough route for 3 to 5 years you will be set up well. In addition, the benefits including healthcare, paid vacations, and discounts at the outlets are bar none.

    Cons

Definitely a union culture. Lots of personal relationships that negatively affect your growth and promotional opportunities. Seniority is everything. Rookies never get any summer or hunting season vacation time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire from with-in. Lots of quality merchandisers and salesman looking to advance. I've been turned down for routes and management positions with a degree and plenty of experience just because an old Wonder Bread, Frito Lay, or Coke vendor was someone's buddy. I'm up in sales and cut my stale in half. Could have been an asset 3 years ago if I would have been given a fair chance.
