I worked at Blinds to Go

    Pros

    health benefits
1 week off for Christmas (because the store is closed)
    Learned basic customer service skills

    Cons

    Long hours on your feet
No chance of getting a promotion
the management has a tendency to talk about the employees behind their backs.
    Purposeful high expectations.
When someone does get promoted, they either have to be fake and buy into the "Blinds to Go mentality" or they are demoted or fired within a short period of time.
You will have no social life, as you work at least 10 hour days and you're exhausted by the time you get home.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I left by my own choice and was not fired. In the interview I had with Blinds to Go, I mentioned how bad some of the reviews on this site were, and all they said was, "Those bad reviews are just written by spiteful past employees that got fired'. Well, I was not fired, and I agree with everything that I've seen here. I worked with the company for two years. 3 months into the job, I realized their whole company was a joke.
Feedback on sales is a big thing with them, and this is helpful, especially at the beginning. However, it starts to get nit picky if you've been there longer than 6 months.
My advice to management would be: be up front with your employees, before they accept the position. Tell them they need a certain sales average to get promoted, and in some stores, that average is very hard to reach. Blinds to Go has a "mold" they like people to fit into, and if someone doesn't fit exactly into it, they're kind of like a lost cause to the company.
At the time I left, the Philadelphia district was extremely short-staffed, which made management desperate to make sure we were hitting our (sometimes unrealistic) goals. And during the wintertime, they will make you drive in a bad snow storm.
I've personally worked at many jobs, all different. This was the job that had the highest turnover rate, by far. This company does not care about its employees, or even its customers, to be honest. I would plead with someone to reconsider taking a job with this company.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
