    Pros

    Some really terrific and smart people on the ground willing to do whatever it takes to meet the needs of the market. It's all about trust and many of the sales professionals have worked hard over the years to build that within their markets. When sales believes in the company and its products the clients are more inclined to follow. Some of the culture is localized which means its a bit easier to steer clear of the chaos in HQ and NY.

    Cons

    New president and sales leadership are far too ego driven to care about those in the field representing the company and they are blind to our clients decision processes. Sales results are significantly suffering due to a new culture of short term planning and strategy. New leadership has stated he is only 'in it to break it and see what happens since he does not need the money.' Not sure this helps define success for the rest of us and the company.

    There are also a few senior leaders who hold all the cards and make for a massive bottle neck for sales and the clients. Trust and autonomy are foreign concepts now. In short, nothing really gets done on time. And when selling an 80 year old product that is quickly being displaced by the competition, one would think that 'service' would be of paramount importance.

    Advice to Management

    Embrace and trust those in the field. Understand that although the C-Suite can be highly influential, the decisions are made downstream. Build the analytical tools the market has been asking for and focus less of slicing up and re-selling offerings not in demand. Also, un-bundle sales operations functions and leadership. They are the stale icing on an rapidly decomposing cake.
