I have been working at Bloomberg L.P. full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits are off the charts - they are more than enough to make Federal and state employees jealous, from health benefits, to maternity/paternity leave to vacation days (20/year, not including sick days). There are pantries in all of the offices, but the Princeton office has full catering every day. One will not have to pay for lunch, ever. Open office stimulates collaboration. No one has an office, from the newest temp up to Mike Bloomberg himself.

    Cons

You're not going to break the bank here. In rating compensation/benefits, the tilt is considerably towards the benefits side. Open environment can lead to too many interruptions at certain points. Some of the business philosophy is too focused on getting things done rather than getting the right things done. Career path is always pretty foggy. If you're not into management, it can be very tough to really make your mark. Management itself can be made more difficult than it needs to be. The evaluation structure is somewhat archaic, is based on ridiculous apples to oranges comparisons across the company and doesn't provide middle managers with much flexibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the evaluation system. Remove some of the rigidity in which managers need to operate for evaluations.
