Former Employee - Sales Associate in Palo Alto, CA

I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

When I was on an hourly wage they gave me over $13 an hour which was nice.

    Cons

Moved to commission and I swear management does absolutely nothing to help or support you. They're always on your tail about opening new accounts and selling more no matter how well you've done and never praise good work. They turn a blind eye to anyone stealing sales from another associate as long as they're making money out of it. The company is just the epitome of corporate greed at its worst. It's an absolute jungle on the floor, no camaraderie or team building whatsoever. The upper management talk down so condescendingly to sales associates it's absurd. You're treated like a slave! And god forbid you ever try to call a manager over for help, they always get nasty and obviously irritated with you for wasting their time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

How about actually being a supportive presence on the floor for your associates to sell?
