    I worked at Books-A-Million part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I made a lot of great friends while there. I worked at BAM for about six years on and off, and I still stay in touch with a number of people

    Cons

In a word? Management. The management in this company was horrible. There were a few awesome individuals in management who were just as fed up as the rest of us, but they were few and far between. The stress they placed on employees over selling memberships and magazine subscriptions was appalling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take pride in your workers beyond their ability to push a useless membership on customers. Reward those who exhibit other skills like positively interacting with customers and securing repeat business, maintaining order during the weekends, stuff like that.
