I have been working at Breg full-time
Paycheck. CEO is good, but surrounded with mediocre management. Did I mention free popcorn on Friday and free coffee and tea. Most workers are nice.
Some history first... This company used to be privately owned way back with Brad Mason at the helm. Then it got sold to Orthofix Inc. Actually things were OK while we were part of Orhofix. It got bad when sold again to Waterstreet (private equity firm) back in 2012. These guys are all about profit. All employees were classified in one of 3 groups. A, B or C. A=keep. B=improve or let go, C=let go. Over the course of few years’ lots of old employees were quietly let go. Those of us who survived were loaded to the max. Lots of work has been outsourced to Mexicali, Mexico and India. Regular PTO has been eliminated and replaced by "unlimited PTO or vacation time". What a JOKE! Basically, company did this to write off liability (unused time off) from the books. Since most employees were overworked and could not take time off, lots of unused vacation had to be paid back. The truth is, very few employees are taking advantage of “unlimited vacation time”, since there is nobody to do the work while you are off. At the same time, when you leave the company, you are not being paid back any unused time off, since there is no accrual. Everybody in this company is stressed out and worked out to maximum. 10+ hours is the norm. Lots of employees work on weekends. If you want to have some kind of private life, do not sign up. Recently we purchased UnitedOrthoGroup Company based in Texas. Most employees were laid off or in the process of being laid off. Jobs are shipped south to Mexico. This company is big on outsourcing. It is still in the progress of trying to figure out what jobs can go abroad. Almost forgot, we pride ourselves with "a culture". The concept sounds very good, and we even have classroom lectures on it, but in reality is it BS. Bottom line for this company is bottom line.
Advice to Management
Please quit phony culture.
