    I have been working at Bunge North America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Pay is usually fair. Benefits are comparable.

    Cons

    I work in a department with a great deal of visibility into what occurs in the rest of the organization, so this review is not based on one bad manager, but rather BNA as a whole and most specifically the St. Louis office.

    -Very weak leaders. Most I work with are directors who never have their employees' backs, who rarely help or get involved in anything outside their exact job, who never communicate important information to their direct reports, and make every decision without asking opinions or involving their team. It's a common joke here that non-manager employees only found out important information if it was sent via a company wide email announcement.
    -VERY old-fashioned culture. Very hierarchy-based. If you are lower on the totum pole (in most departments any non-manager employee falls in this category), you will never be involved in decisions, projects, meetings, brainstorming, etc, even if, for example, it's a decision about a system and your "level" is the one who is the system expert. is directly related to Little flexibility as its all about face time (although this one item is improving this year). Employees always complain about never knowing anything and are typically blind-sided by things far later than they should be- it's a very common joke here, sadly.
    -Many employees are disgruntled and have given up on giving 110%, because it's gotten them nowhere. This has led to a cool on theme of no teamwork. Many don't want to help anyone out.
    -Travel expectations are unfair. It's common to be asked if you can leave the next day on a cross-country flight to go to xxx facility to deal with xx problem. And only the good/fair managers think to ask what you personally have going on- many managers have an expectation that you will cancel your personal plans with little to no notice. It's like they own you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Analyze your turnover and review the reasons behind it and how to fix it. Come into this century and stop focusing on the hierarchy. Start listening to the up and coming employees with great potential who are trying to improve processes and procedures. If you don't, they will continue to leave.
