    I have been working at C H Fenstermaker & Associates full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Great group of cohorts within the Houston Environmental team. Management within Houston tries to share the work among team members and expose new projects to all so everyone gets the opportunity to grow. When the (billable) hours are in, it's an efficient system that all parties are engaged and work towards the goals and client needs. Office environment is great, most everyone has a window office, Houston office has its perks. Self-training is open during slow periods.

    Cons

    Headquarters in Lafayette often tends to keep any environmental work there as possible, leaving satellite offices high and dry. Marketing is nonexistent for environmental team, it's up to the workers to try and get more work in, the department needs a environmental-specific marketer. Occasionally there can be micro-management, but once trust is built it dissipates. No bonuses, but there is informal verbal recognition. The best parts about this company come from the specific offices, and NOT from headquarters. Very limited career growth opportunities, we've lost several people to growth than anything else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get a department-specific marketer for each department, and don't rely on a couple of people to market for the entire company and all of its departments. Bring back bonuses, even a Christmas ham is a "bonus" to some who remember it. Engage in formal training when the work is slow.
