    I have been working at CAE full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Despite personnel woes, CAE still produces the best quality flight simulator training devices in the industry. Great facilities generally. Shift differential pay is the highest I've seen.

    Cons

    Base pay is marginal compared to other technicians in the industry. Pay should be periodically reviewed to ensure it is keeping up not only with the rest of the industry but also to compensate for the fact that health insurance, etc. are not getting cheaper.

    Get rid of the silly Tech I, II, III, and IV job titles. This isn't the military. Bring everyone under a single pay scale that tops out higher. Should a transition to a single scale occur, grandfather technicians into the new scale at their current pay rates. Give everyone automatic raises on scale annually until topped out on scale.

    Shift differentials should be done away with. Just pay everyone the highest differential, or increase everyone's base pay. No one should take a pay cut by being moved off of night shift onto a shift with a lower differential.

    Get rid of the "chain of command" mentality. Again, this isn't the military. You either have an open door management policy or you don't. There is no grey area.

    The annual review system they have set up is a complete and utter joke and this is reflected in other reviews posted here.
