Current Employee - Likely Leaving in Washington, DC

I have been working at CNI full-time

    Pros

Many of the employees have strong technical skills and good knowledge in their areas of expertise. Pay can be competitive but you have to ask for it at hire. Management has been successful in obtaining contracts and growing the company. Company claims to do good deeds for the Indian Nation. Easy contract wins due to 8a status of a billion dollar company.

    Cons

Cliquish - upper and middle management is "old boys network and nepotism" based. Show boating for the customer is rewarded. Bonuses tend to go to upper management and there is no profit sharing for lower echelons unless you are Chickasaw and will benefit from the services the company develops in OK.
Benefits in the past few years have been reduced significantly. It feels like the company is getting more focused on getting every penny from the employee. In particular health benefits are much more expensive and provide fewer services and more bureaucracy. Training budgets are relatively low and classes that are non-billable to the customer are discouraged.
Working for the company feels like a "Job", not a career or "family".
High disparity between highly paid employees in major metro areas and low paid employees in OK or rural America.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring back better benefits like Blue Cross coverage. Provide better training opportunities - build into contract up front or eat the cost. Take care of your mid and lower level employees and create advancement opportunities. Right now employees feel used for the benefit of the Chickasaw Nation.
