    I have been working at CPES full-time (more than 10 years)


    Working with the population we support (those with cognitive delay and severe mental illness) can be very rewarding.


    The pay is very low, and starting pay is barely over the state minimum. After over 10 years of loyalty to the company, I make less than $9 per hour. Even with both myself and my husband working full time, we can barely make a living to support our two children. Day programs and group homes are routinely understaffed to cut costs. There is internal corruption which is not addressed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Provide greater incentive to your direct care staff to stay with the company instead of transferring elsewhere. I have known many good people go to work for other agencies because they felt they were treated unfairly. Look for corruption from within. Even employees with a long positive track record can change over time, and begin stealing from the company. I have not done this personally!
