Very friendly and helpful people. The company is customer focused, empowering employees to do the right thing. The company also has a long and prestigious history, giving a sense of stability and loyalty from customers and employees alike.
Company processes and technology are a dated, though the company is working to change that. Also, because the average age at the company is older, the employees can get stuck in their ways and resist changes, creating a negative atmosphere at times. There is also an occasional unfortunate trend where employees are 'tapped on the shoulder' for advancement versus formal interviews.
Advice to Management
Continue to actively manage changes and communicate them in advance; keep in mind target audience is varied in age and experience. Continue to pursue new technologies (and quickly). Ensure that all positions are posted for, or set appropriate expectations for 'automatic' advancement that alleviate the perception of favoritism.
