People are generally ok, nice offices in a great location and good work life balance.
I was contractor for 6 months and coming from the private sector I found the pace here frustratingly slow. I appreciate the brand has to be protected and the output of work has to be to a high standard as they're funded by the public but I found a real lack of motivation amongst some of the staff and there was no real urgency which was a cause for concern. Some have a easy ticket through to retirement and are turning up to work for the sake of it and for me this is wrong as the organisation is publicly funded so the staff need work hard to show their appreciation but this was not the case. I can't talk for all, this was my experience in the main. So basically, if you want a easy ride, get a job at cancer research but for me, this was totally wrong and even as a money hungry contractor, I couldn't put up with it and moved on.
