    I have been working at Capita full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Core hours 10-4. so start before 10 and leave after 4 doing 7.5 h
    Strong financially
    Doing very well globally.
    Massive profits each year, which we do not see though.
    People are mostly nice
    Message from directors is clear and you understand their plan, and they do seem to care about customer which is good. But this is not the same when coming from Team Managers.

    Cons

    Others on previous contract do only 7 hours.
    No time & half for overtime.
    Trying to do away with the actual way flex should be used
    Low holiday and cant use more than 1 flex day in a month. you lose anything over 10 hours flex accrued. So basically you work for free if no overtime in place and signed off.
    No bonuses! directors and senior managers only get this and they are having record bonuses for 3 years running due to our hard work. record revenue and profit also recorded up by 14-23% each year and still no bonuses for those who actually do the work. Excuses are lame and that because the work we do is based on 5 year contracts with companies they cant give bonuses because we might not have that contract 5 years from now! Each Year Capita buy out about 13 companies costing around 100mil plus. They hide What they say they have to give towards possible bonus structure by spending the profit first buying out companies that may compete with them or provide them a wing to aid in tendering for a lucrative contract.
    Bad politics far too much red tape.
    Wont let you use initiative
    People are very stressed. with no real help around this to be reduced other than meetings that put you further behind work.
    Managers will try and find silly and stupid things to give as reason to not give you the rating you deserve, while others who do less if they get ion well with get better ratings. Basically if your open and question things that seem wrong your seen as a problem and that your being negative. When instead your just spotting things that are wrong and will go wrong down the line and cause bigger problems. Managers do not like it if you find a problem which means they have to get involved or now see it as more work for them to do. (not all though, some new ones are great, its the ones that have been a TM for years that have obviously lost interest)
    While directors speak a good bit on customer care and TCF. It is not really followed up down the chain. Message gets lost when it comes down to time and FTE count reduction to do same job, alongside very bad and slow systems and too much red tape to make positive changes.
    want you to remain as bum on seat so wont want you progressing. or they have to keep recruiting for back office work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    They should listen more, they do employee engagement survey but this its just a tactical ploy to make you think your being heard and that you have a chance to air your issues and views. A lot of companies do this these days to stave off strike and dissent.
    Pay a decent wage as Bristol is expensive to live in.
    Get rid of the red tape when you want to get something done. introduce better systems.
     Get a bonus system in place and start rewarding colleagues properly as most business do.
    In 121s ensure you make the employee know where the carrot is to gain there desired rating. Not the usual carrot out there "somewhere" spill. give direction what to actually do, and what is actually needed to achieve desired rating.
