I worked at Capita full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I came to Capita as a tupe employee. At first I didn't like the shift in culture, the company I came from had certain values that may not have been commercially viable and probably was part of the reason they needed Capita help. Capital culture puts the customer and client first. They are about profit and loss but also providing a good service. So for the first year I seen that as "Capita only care about profit and loss" but in time I seen this more as Capita really opening my eyes to how businesses run and gave me a great commercial awareness that providing a good service is even better if you can make it lean and profitable. After a few years my manager got me into elearning development and this is where my career really took off. I've since formed my own design company and I also work for other banks as their "go-to" elearning consultant and designer. I literally owe most of how I run my own personal brand down to Capita and how I was managed. Despite the out of travelling (see cons), Capita did send me to conferences that I wanted to go to. They did invest a lot in me.

    Cons

Being Tupe'd over can be jarring at first but resist the easy route of being negative like everyone else. See Capita as an opportunity to learning real business skills. If you truly want to climb the ladder then expect to do a lot of travelling to different sites. I liked and disliked this. I had a mixed experience. I understand it is necessary but be warned.

    Advice to Management

Capita are obviously successful, so there isn't any real advice I can give other than allow your designers more freedom when it comes to technology. I personally found designing on a a Capita laptop to be very restrictive.
