I have been working at Capital District Physicians' Health Plan as a contractor (more than 8 years)

    Pros

This provider is credentialed through CAQH as a clearing house for HMO's. This provider is credentialed for multiple HMO's including CDPHP. In the Capital District and surrounding rural counties, the vast population subscribes to CDPHP. I enjoy being contracted with CDPHP. Their systemic infrastructure is very seamless. They are supportive to the clients and willing to offer necessary services.

    Cons

This provider finds similar difficulties with CDPHP as with other HMO's. Due to this provider's model of treatment, that is providing outpatient mental health in the client's home; there is no visible way of communicating that. The lack of visibility results in more advertising and other avenues to be known in the Capital District and Surrounding rural areas. The practical model of meeting clients in their homes has resulted in many positive results. As with other HMO's; CDPHP has not concluded that this is beneficial for themselves, Primary Care Locations, This Provider and those families served.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Outreach, outreach, outreach. To the local Medicaid Offices, Medicare Offices, Town Hall Meetings within the HMO's region and to targeted homes of clients for purposes of survey and feedback as well as education and accessibility
This provider benefits from the Tip Sheets, Screening Forms and the like. However; speaking for myself, I can benefit from more webinars related to behavioral health.
