    I have been working at Car-Part.com full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Mostly mon-fri hours unless your sales on the road. Pretty flexible for dev/support for working remotely frequently. Immediate co-workers are usually pretty awesome.

    Cons

    Management is terrible here. Half of the managers don't actually do any work or know what they are even doing. The other half micromanages to the extreme point where its terrible to go to work every day. Family members walk on water and lie about other employees out to make themselves look better. Most the family that work here have no actual skills in the jobs they are employed for but treat you like crap anyways. If you're stuck working in the office the managers constantly look down on other employees and treat you like crap. The pay is pretty terrible across the board unless you're developers. The management flip flop on what the developers are supposed to be working on to the point that nothing ever actually gets done or goes live and works. Half the products they put out don't actually do anything or are just copies of other products that already exist.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Cut the family out of it. It's fine if you only have 5 employees but once you become a national company you have to start acting like it and give fair treatment to everyone. Stop micromanaging everything, you hired someone to do a job, let them do it and trust them to do it or don't hire them. Cut some of the fat out of the management, you know who the people are who don't actually do any work and show up halfway though the day then leave mid afternoon. Don't have people lead groups that can't actually do any of the work the group does. Try to show the employees that you actually care about them, do some free lunches monthly/weekly. Try to promote morale because it's terrible right now. Don't be afraid to spend money on internal things for employees like chairs and such, it goes a long way to making the work experience better and making people happy at work.
