I have been working at Carillion full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

There are continued opportunities for our people due to our diversity. I consider myself to be working for a company that it would be easy to stay with for the duration of my working life and have enjoyed the challenge of a variety of roles since 2002. As someone who started via a recruitment agency and having worked my way up to having my own team as a permanent member of staff, I am grateful to be working in a people focused organisation that encourage employees to set clear objectives & reach their goals

    Cons

Due to the size of our business things can get lost in translation (but I am witnessing steps being taken to improve on this). We have a lot of staff worldwide & the economic downturn has affected us the same as smaller companies so performance related perks have unfortunately taken a hit, but there is hope for the future as the economy stabilises

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Performance related increases need to be attainable as soon as it becomes financially viable for us to retain our best people. There are certain elements of our site based day to day running that involves far too much 'red tape' and non user friendly systems which make problems difficult to overcome and a reduction in productivity
