I have been working at Cenergy International full-time (less than an year)

Cenergy is like a recruiting firm; they help get you a position and take care of the paperwork. I'm essentially an independent contractor, with all the benefits and drawbacks therein. It's actually a good deal. They take their cut which is actually pretty small compared to competitors, so I get more of the rate the actual hiring company is paying. From looking at the budget numbers I think I am keeping around 90% of what Cenergy is actually billing the client.

Because you are a 1099 employee you have to take care of your own vacation, sick time, and health insurance. However, you can write off a lot of that so it can actually help at tax time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I like that Cenergy is pretty much out of the picture. However, that can hinder as well, since I take pride in being an engineer and Cenergy itself does not support it.
