I worked at Central Garden & Pet full-time (more than an year)

I learned a lot here and was given third party training. I was given the opportunity to work on a lot of projects.

I was told I came on board in a time of transition. I was with the company for 2 years and we were transitioning the entire time; no clear corporate strategy was ever established. Every department is run in a silo, integration is impossible, believe me it's not going to happen (old habits die hard).

The whole place is eerily quiet. I experienced 2 major waves of layoffs which left the company bareboned and moral shot. A lot of people are doing several jobs and working long hours. Overall it's a sad and depressing atmosphere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My experience with my management team was quite poor. Management will through subordinates under the bus to make themselves look better in front of the CEO. I did to trust my manager with anything.

Advice to employees: maintain a very professional demeanor with your managers; these aren't the type of people you'd go grab a beer with.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
