    I worked at Centrica

    Pros

    Many different divisions in many different industries thus offering you a chance to work on projects in more than one industry. Centrica also has partnerships with many other companies and from an exposure point of view that is a real plus point.

    Cons

    Complex an unesseary processes. buraeucracy in the highest order. Union elements get favourable treatment as management are scared of them. Therefore if like me you are not in the union you will have unfavourable contract erms anmoung other things. Promotion is based on networking rather than ability or performance. no real employee engagemen . They have an nanual survey but that feels like it is a tiken gesture....just to tick the box.
    Ever since HR was outsource to glasgow and India I have had my benefits altered in error, my toal reward statement send to my collegues address and hers sent to mine. The error only being realised after I had opened it. Basic administration error which have a big impact. Totally unacceptable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Cutting cost and the expence of good working process is not progress. i can understand the reasoning behind outsourcing offshore and so on but there is no excuse for cutting corners. Employee engagement is not a buzz term but an actual part of people amangemtn and therefore should be taken seriously. Invest in you staff. you have to really beg to go on courses which help you develop in your role and if and when they do agree to ti they drag their heels
    Sort it out or you will lose your best people.....there are many good people at Centrica. Don't take them for granted
