I have been working at Cervalis full-time (Less than a year)
Lots and lots of overtime. Shifts frequently need coverage which can be good if you want to double your paycheck with all the overtime. They encourage and reimburse for certification exams. If you're willing to travel, new shifts become available fairly frequently allowing you to change between night/mid/day shifts.
It's not a difficult job, but opportunities to learn new skills and practice existing skills are scarce. There is no formal training program, so every employee has a different understanding of company practices. Advancement opportunities are at a minimum. The upper support tiers have been there for years and until they retire, there is absolutely no upward mobility. Many people on the bottom tier have been working the same position for years with no expectation of moving higher.
Advice to Management
Set up a continuing training program for all the technicians to allow all the workers an even playing field. Right now, the older workers are disgruntled. The newer workers don't have the same knowledge and experience they do and, at the moment, there's no real opportunity to fix that.
