I worked at Charter College full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

On the campus level, you might find a few friends, but if you are an A-level player, lower your expectations. This company values C-level yes-people, and if you're too smart, they get threatened.

    Cons

First, let me address the recent spate of "reviews" here on Glassdoor that are obviously written by someone in upper management trying to raise the ratings. Last year's employee survey showed definitively that more than 80% of employees were extremely dissatisfied with the company. That is a fact. If you read closely, you'll notice that "transparency" and "clear communication" are buzzwords in these reviews. That's because that was the primary complaint from employees. IT HAS NOT IMPROVED. From where I sit, they've gone out of their way to identify and remove those smart enough to see that the emperor has no clothes, and they've promoted all the C-level Yes-people they can, and then gone on an aggressive marketing spree trying to convince everyone that everything is so much better now. It actually feels more like a corporate genocide. They take pride in trying to make themselves the "Wal-Mart of higher education" without any awareness of how problematic that metaphor is. They squelch originality and churn out terrible curriculum full of mistakes and don't allow teachers to go outside those lines. And then the CEO has the utter indecency of telling us all in an employee meeting that "he doesn't like working with stupid people" because we -- the ones on the ground trying to deal with and make excuses for the crap curriculum they give us -- didn't make him enough money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The emperor has no clothes. We all know this. We are too scared to say anything directly to anyone because we just need to keep our jobs. The people who complain are generally the people who actually care about the students and want a better education for them. Are those really the people you want to run out?
