    Work For Another Golf Course

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

You can network with the members, caddie for extra money, and get decent hours. You also get lunch and dinner for free, which is nice. If you're a high school kid and live nearby, this is a good job for you to meet people your age and to make a little extra money. The course is great, and you get limited employee golf, so take advantage of it.

    Cons

Unlike most golf courses, they do not tip. While it an extremely nice place, you're only going to make 8.50 an hour and that is it. You will end up working most weekends. The work culture is not great. Many of the guys, even grown men working in management, talk behind each other's backs like high school girls. Also, expect to be asked to be there as early as 5AM for outing preparation. Unless you're one of the 'favorites' of management, do not expect to be treated well. The fact that grown men talk about high school and college kids as soon as they walk away is almost sad and it is hard to watch. Heaven forbid you make a small mistake, you'll probably get chewed out by the managers. Everyone there that makes a mistake looks to blame it on someone else and not take responsibility. Overall, it is a horrible work culture despite having some fun coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Increase the pay. For an exclusive club like this, the Golf Pro shouldn't be taking the extra bonuses while the staff has to deal with a no tipping policy and barely above minimum wage pay. Don't ask people to come in at 6 AM during the school week, work like crazy for 2 hours, ask them to sit around off the clock for 4 hours, and then work another 2 hours as fast as you can. Working outings is ridiculous.
