    I have been working at Christel House Academy full-time

    Pros

    -Flexibility to personalize classroom delivery and instruction (especially at the Elementary level)
    -Competent and well-educated peer teachers
    -Great new partnership with IMCPL and the school library
    -Steadily upgraded and relevant technology
    -Individual "teach bucks" accounts for reimbursement on some classroom purchases
    -Bonus and stipend system

    Cons

    -Steadily declining school culture (as of this writing)
    -Personalized and meaningful professional development primarily available only to lead and mentor teachers.
    -Convoluted teacher evaluation and bonus system
    -Poor advancement/promotion opportunities
    -Disconnected leadership in most administrative positions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Changes must be made in the approaches to school culture and teacher appreciation in order to maintain the high standards once prominent inside Christel House. Reward your staff for ingenuity, drive, and performance as much as is done for those with likability and longevity. Connect with your teachers, and listen to their concerns. Do not ask for their input, if their input won't be put to use when the majority feels a certain way. Spend less time in meetings and more time in hallways and classrooms with students and teachers. Continue to give students every opportunity to receive a wonderful education, but do not continue to allow a few students to dictate overall negative, cultural issues at the school.
