There are a lot of good things to say about working at Cisco, e.g., the benefits are good, there are a lot of good people there, and they encourage their people to give back to their community.
Cisco terminates thousands of employees every year through "restructuring" events. Rather than retraining and retaining talented employees they often replace them with younger, lower paid new hires. I guess that's the new normal in high tech.
Advice to Management
Rather than terminating good, loyal employees, give them time to find another position within the company, even if means asking them to step down in pay grade.
