    Pros

Has to be the ability to work from home, and just get on with the work.

    Cons

    - Sales culture: sales is very powerful and gets its way a lot of the time. As a result you're prevented from doing your job properly. For example, project managers can't exercise change control, because it'll upset the customer, and therefore potential future sales!

    - pay: if you're a worker you don't get pay increases or promotions. It's the managers who get the promotions.

    - job security: routers and switches had their heyday in the 90s, so now Cisco has to reduce its cost base, which means layoffs.

    - Poor management: most managers are routing and switch guys, so that's the work they go after. They can't do the managed services like Ericsson, Nokia and IBM, etc. Net result is the type of projects are poor.

    Advice to Management

Managers need to be assessed by the people they manage, so the bad managers get removed from the company.
