    I worked at Cisco Systems

    Pros

Work-life balance here is amazing. The opportunity to shift in projects or roles is always okay to discuss in open. I feel that Cisco the company as an entire unit has treated me well financially over the years. I've been able to make a good living and pay the bills with savings.

    Cons

Consultants are renewed every QTR, they can rid you at any time and then your left jobless and shocked. Depending on the manager and team you're interviewing for, some will allow you to work from home all the time, even a few days a week OR some will want you in the office everyday for standard business hours. Some managers have even told me red badges had to come in everyday but the blue badges couldnt. I very often felt and heard the division of consultants (red badges) and full time employees (blue badges). I've been a long time consultant 6.5 years. There would be times when I was in meetings they would excuse red badges out of the room (how awkward to get up and walk out or hang up). Team lunches, email mailers, all hands meetings ect. all red badges were left out. I've even been invited to some and then told I couldn't come in and attend the all hands at the door. Sometimes I felt like I was peeling potatoes with the poor people on the titanic, very 3rd class.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more opportunity for "red badges"/consultants to convert over to a full time employee status. I dedicated 6.5 years of my professional career to Cisco. Now its time to say thank you and good bye, I need benefits, paid vacation and most of all I need to feel that I belong and I'm treated the same as everyone else.
