I worked at Citi full-time (more than 8 years)

Citi is a vast company with many diverse and different people to meet and work with while your are employed by Citi. Working for a larger company like Citi provides security during good financial times in the industry.

When the financial industry starts to encounter tough times, Citi is typically the first to be impacted. Since the crisis, Citi struggled to grow revenues while trying to manage its expense base. Cost cutting and reductions-in-force are quite common during the tougher times in the industry. Citi also strategizes to be middle-of-the-road to average in terms of compensating employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Voice-of-the-Employee every year shows that employees do not believe senior management will act on the results of the VOE. Citi management should ensure that significant investments are made into employee morale, culture, compensation and development. Citi has turned into too much of a revolving door for many middle level managers and non-managing middle level employees.
