Current Employee - Retention in Jacksonville, FL

I have been working at Citi full-time (less than a year)

The ability to make bonuses is the ONLY thing that makes this job doable. Time off and health benefits are decent. Having "retention" on your resume will open doors, because it is the hardest job on the phone and you need to have an understanding of almost all areas of the business to be successful. Also your oral communication skills will need to be excellent if you want to do well, people who speak poorly will have a very hard time in this position.

The catch with the bonuses is that you must be in your role for 6 months after you hit the floor before you even start seeing the real money. More than half of my training class has left before they met this criteria. So they worked hard and never saw a dime for their efforts. That is most likely what the higher ups in corporate intended, because the bonus payouts can almost double the salary. But it's just not worth it.

You need to retain on average every other account (50%), so imagine trying to convince 50 people out of 100 to do the exact opposite thing they initially called to do. The turnover rate for this position is incredible.

Need a much higher Base Pay to make this job worth it. You will typically start between 25-30k, the salary should be 35-45k.

If you can get into another position within the business, Citi is a great company. But this position will make you hate life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is actually pretty good, everyone understands how difficult the position is and management tries to not make it worse. They will coach you and work with you till you excel. Some of the management are better than others like any job. But none of them are "terrible". Most of them have been in the shoes of the reps before and can relate to the struggle.
