I worked at Classic Consulting (Less than a year)
- Good Team (all 7 have now exited the business due to reasons in 'Cons' section. - Central Brighton Location
The managing director Denise Buchan. On first impressions and to her clients, will come across as a fun, upbeat, very cheerful yet slightly over familiar character... However, underneath this facade is a verbally abusive, vulgar, crude and extremely politically incorrect woman who has one of, if not the worst reputation in Brighton's recruitment market. This paired with the fact she is backed by her ex-mentor turned venture capitalist, Gary Laurence of Krypton Capital, who turns a blind eye and keeps the purse full, means that she has no accountability and treats people how she wishes. Her tyrannical and bullish approach to her staff has meant that the organisations staff retention rate is simply non existent. Apart from her and her 1 Director (who works 3 days a week and gets gifted clients & placements when she isn't going to hit target), every other employee of the company for the past 2 years has come and swiftly gone, wishing they had left sooner. Reasons for leaving could be for a multitude of reasons such as them simply 'getting on Denise's nerves' and she lets them go... to the employee becoming so fed up of being screamed at and/or verbally assaulted on a weekly basis that they just cannot take anymore and don't turn up. When it comes to finally exiting the business, she WILL not pay any commission that is due and you will be hard pushed to get your paid months notice.. this will also be followed by vicious and relentless harassment and letters from lawyers and Denise, trying to enforce restricted covenants (which do not hold any sway the UK due to Laws preventing employees stopping someone's right to work), or you being 'blacklisted' via the form of malicious rumors. On top of all this, they are happy to practice illegally when it comes to clients asking for a certain gender or 'type', and they will out right lie to candidates about roles to get them into the position, because 'as long as they are there 3 months' they don't care. So If you have had an interview or are thinking of Classic as a company to work for, I would strongly recommend you prevent yourself the certain unhappiness and find another consultancy .. there are plenty (who will also confirm this review).
Advice to Management
Classic Consulting - Integrity First.... My advice would be to learn what Integrity means, then change your motto as this is not something you can learn.
