My experience started out wonderful but the last two years left a bad taste in my mouth

Former Employee - Administration in Mayfield Heights, Cuyahoga, OH

I worked at Cleveland Clinic full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The benefits are wonderful. The opportunities to move and grow are there if you want them.

    Cons

The salaries are not good and often not fair. Overworked and underpaid. There are clicks and there are bullies. They make it very clear to you that you are not valuable and that you are replacable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to employees. When an employee has a suggestion or complaint that you don't agree with don't put a target on their back so they are viewed as a bad apple. Approach change in a way that involves everyone-so they are excited and embrace it. Don't start making demands and a list of consequences for the nay sayers. The HR Department really needs to have an open door policy where an employee feels safe to speak, not where they go and tell your supervisor behind your back and it makes work life even more challenging. HR needs to address issues of bullying, and abuse (esp verbal). Cleveland Clinic is so proud that they "Put Patients First".. the rest of that tagline should read "and Put Employees Last". Pay your employees for the job that you hired them for.. don't expect them to do the job of 3 employees and pay them next to nothing.
Let your employees drink regular pop-have it available, diet pop has been linked to brain cancer for crying out loud.
I worked for the Cleveland Clinic for almost 10 years in many capacities and it was better at the beginning, near the end it was clear to me that I was not valued, not heard, and I was tired of being someone who was doing so much for a company that cared so little.
