I have been working at Clickatell full-time (more than an year)

Real sense of character - small enough to be seen and heard, feels like family (good and bad).
Deeply and broadly held set of beliefs about what makes the company a great place to work and an ethical player in a fairly ethically challenged industry.
Generally very strong employee loyalty and engagement.
Some amazing Engineering talent, and well-embraced Agile practices.
Really pleasant working environment, lots of light and air, low noise, good equipment.
Fun staff activities and very active social corporate responsibility in a real way.
Some very smart, hard-working individuals who are really passionate about their field.
Lots of opportunity to roll up your sleeves and make the world a better place.
Good employee benefits, vacation benefits, humane workplace with room for family and life balance.

Some truly bad apples, highly entrenched in their 'comfort zone'. Some clock-watching, some actively disengaged staff. Legacy of management incompetence to get the wrong people off the bus.
More tolerance for political nonsense than makes sense in a company this size.
Very much still on the journey to a mature company - lots of process immaturity, management immaturity, duplication of tools, overly manual processes, lack of managerial discipline, heroism required to save the day - all typical of a company in this phase of development.
Tension between executive managers often too transparent to staff at the ground level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hold the line on current strategic thinking - maintain focus, continue to build a sense of rhythm and discipline.
Continue to invest in maturing processes, practices and tools, and hiring strong middle management talent with experience beyond start-up, but not necessarily corporate.
Act decisively to remove toxic managers and individuals.

    Positive Outlook
