    Pros

Ha, is this a trick question? No pros.

    Cons

Where do I start? This job is not hard. But talking to miserable or sad people all day and trying to get money out of them from debt is absolutely awful. You will be miserable instantly. All people that have decided to stay and have made it up the chain are ignorant and unhappy people with no souls. Training was easy money. You can haggle your wage when you start. Got good money right away but once on the floor they stuck me with an alcoholic manager who was a complete ignorami. Wouldn't help me whatsoever. I was expected to remember about 10 different passwords and log in keys right away but couldn't have them out on my desk to look at. You have to know the script right away and you have to follow a specific script for every situation. Not just the opening part of the call but for every response you get. So if someone says they are a new widow or they have cancer you have to go into some bogus script instead of trying to be sympathetic with them and leave them alone. Even getting cussed at (which is what happens 90% of the calls you actually get someone on the line for) you have to somehow follow a script. Ha, get real. I started collecting my first day on the floor and had people set up for payment plans already within that whole first week. My second week I happened to be working a late night and forgot my badge. I ran home to get it before I got to work and was 3 minutes late - which is funny, you have a 3 minute "grace period" to clock in. Anyways, if I didn't have my badge I would have been locked out after going on a break and would have gotten fired anyways. I called ahead of time to let my dud of a manager know and got blasted for it. Give me a break, I hadn't even been there two whole weeks on my own yet (this isn't counting the two weeks of training.) The other newbie I trained with that was in the same portfolio hadn't made any collections until the very end of the first week on the floor and then I got lectured for not collecting "enough." Kiss it. I just left all my crap on the desk and closed the door on that mini chapter of my life. The money is not worth the awful unhappiness. I have a soul. I don't have time to deal with ignorant people and suck the lives out of people with debt. I'd rather make minimum wage and be happy. So be it. By the way, the only people that make bonuses and do well are the ones that have been there about 5 years + (most have stuck around for at least 10...) So if you have the time and patience for that, go for it. It's not a hard job.

    Advice to Management

Seriously? Why even bother. You know what you are doing wrong. But the money makes you greedy and you all have your heads way to far up your cheeks.
